This week the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign celebrates sustainability, and in light of a world polluted by the overabundance of automobiles, Bike at Illinois wants to remind you of the environmental impact one can have simply by being a regular bike rider. The Campus Sustainability Celebration is a campus-wide event to showcase sustainability organizations and our progress toward iCAP objectives. It is an opportunity to come together, celebrate our accomplishments, and acknowledge priorities for the road ahead. Come meet Bike at Illinois this Wednesday, at the 2021 Sustainability Celebration from 1 – 4 P.M. at NCSA.
Sarthak Prasad, the sustainable transportation assistant at Facilities & Services, will host the table for Bike at Illinois, highlighting our accomplishments in the past year. Bike at Illinois will also be handing out the bicycle registration raffle prizes (U-locks and helmets) at this event!
We would also like to announce our continued collaboration with AdBuzz, an agency within American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) UIUC chapter. We are dedicated to informing more people that biking is fun, safe, convenient, healthy, and sustainable! Among our team is Alex Gallardo, the account manager, who leads and oversees the group’s work, Claire Hulen, the junior account manager, who assists Alex in managing the team’s content and ensuring expectations are met, Guadalupe Rivera, who heads research and strategy by staying up to date with current trends in advertising, Tina Zheng, the creative director, who leads the team’s creative direction, and Elizabeth Dattner, the team’s copywriter, who develops written material for the group.
With our collaboration with AdBuzz, we hope to further communicate our emphasis on bike riding as a fun way to get exercise and contribute to sustainable causes. Furthermore, we wish to inform more people of the importance of safety and bike riding, including wearing a helmet, properly locking your bike, and registering it with Bike At Illinois.
Remember that safety and biking go hand in hand. Therefore, one should always follow the rules of the road while biking, lock their bike with a secure U-Lock, and register their bike with Bike at Illinois.
