Kerrigan is a freshman in the College's Early Childhood Education program. She's loved her own "classroom life" experience and the fun of learning in community. Kerrigan can't wait to creating a welcoming, inclusive, positive classroom environment for all her future students to grow.

Q: Where is home for you?
A: I'm from Lewistown, Illinois.
Q: What is your year and major?
A: I'm a freshman majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Illinois?
A: I chose to come to Illinois because I heard from many alumni that this was the school where I needed to get my teaching degree. The school was praised for its sense of community and equality and that really appealed to me.
Q: How did you decide to go into the field of education?
A: I chose to go into education because of a mentoring class in high school. In this class, I got to help teachers during a class period or two. This is where my love for classroom life and my passion for teaching grew. I loved that learning was fun for the students in that class. They wanted to be there and wanted to learn and socialize. I feel that is crucial to development.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: To be a Pre-K teacher!
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I am not only the middle child of three, but also the only daughter to my parents.
