Sophomore Kennedy Record is living life as an Illinois student to the fullest. She loves cheering on the Fighting Illini, checking out the local coffee shops, and most of all, she loves her work with children with disabilities.
Kennedy says, "I desire to be supportive of children who feel voiceless, to be someone who will fight for their needs."
A little bit about Kennedy
Q: Where is home for you?
A: I'm from Champaign, Illinois!
Q: What is your year and major?
A: I'm a sophomore in Special Education.
Q: What do you enjoy about your campus experience, so far?
A: I really enjoy being able to call the University of Illinois campus my home away from home. Illinois Men's Basketball games are my favorite and I love being able to explore new areas of campus with my friends while hitting up all the coffee shops possible.
Q: How did you know you wanted to go into the field of education?
A: I knew I wanted to go into the education field because I have such a special place in my heart for children. I chose Special Education specifically because I love the idea of helping shape students with disabilities into future world changers.
Q: What do you enjoy about the College of Education?
A: I enjoy the people and the incredibly welcoming atmosphere that the College of Education has to offer.
Q: Do you have a favorite professor, or course? Why?
A: I don't know if I have one specific favorite, but I have loved getting to know all of them through class and getting to learn different things from each and every one of them.
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: A fun fact about me is that I've never left the country.
Q: Where do you see yourself after graduation?
A: In the future, I want to spend some time teaching in a Special Education classroom and eventually pursue a dream job of working with Special Olympics after receiving a master's degree in Sports Management. I want to combine my love of sports and my heart for children with disabilities in my future career.
