Jaclyn transferred to Illinois just this semester, after starting her college career at the College of Dupage in the Chicago suburbs.
A little bit about Jaclyn:
Q: Where is home for you?
A: Oakbrook, IL.
Q: What is your year and major?
A: I'm a junior majoring in Elementary Education.
Q: What do you enjoy about the campus experience, so far?
A: So far I love how kind and supportive everyone is! It truly feels like a big family.
Q: How did you know you wanted to go into the field of education?
A: I have been a nanny for seven years now, and have grown to love teaching and watching young minds grow.
Q: What do you enjoy about the College of Education?
A: The creativity and support from the faculty and staff, as well as how driven all of the students are.
Q: Do you have a favorite professor or course? Why?
A: At my community college in Dupage, I took an Educational Psychology class and I found it fascinating. I loved learning how young minds develop and better ways to teach every kind of learner!
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: I have never seen a SpongeBob episode! I was always an Arthur fan.
Q: Tell us about your future plans, post-graduation.
A: Although I haven’t done any formal mentoring, I find that I have learned a lot from nannying. I was a nanny for four children, one with special needs and it taught me how to talk to each child and find a way to communicate with them so that they would benefit. I assisted with summer school and work and absolutely loved the creative element and support I could give. My future plans are to move to Texas and pursue elementary teaching. I am very excited and can’t wait for my future as an educator!
