On August 5th, from 6pm to 6:45pm, Hiroshima Commemoration Committee formed by local people in Champaign-Urbana invites you to a gathering in the UI Arboretum, north of the Japan House to stand in witness to the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. Join us in remembering what happened when the first nuclear bomb was used against people 75 years ago and dedicating ourselves to preventing this from ever happening again. Masks and social distancing are required.
If you are not able to join us, please take a moment for silent prayer from 6:15pm on August 5th in your place. The atomic bomb exploded above Hiroshima at 8:15am on August 6 (Japan time) in 1945. Your prayer corresponds to thousands of prayers happening all over the world at the time of the bombing.
