On April 29th, 2019 the Urban Health College of Nursing Student Organization (UCONSA) hosted its 4th annual fundraiser, Behind The Scrubs. In previous years, UCONSA has helped fundraise for the Syrian Medical Society and Chicago Public Schools. This year, they raised over $600 for Little Heroes League, an organization that helps families get coordinated care for their premature infant. The show consisted of UIC's very own BSN students' talents, beyond the ones they have been mastering in their scrubs at clinical and lab.
This year, the Student Nurses Association (SNA) and Student Council (STUCO) partnered with UCONSA to host over 60 students on the 3rd floor event center. Even more tacos were in attendance for performers and attendees to enjoy during the show after a long day of Monday classes. Performances included the ukelele, voice, poem reading, juggling, dancing, and a piano performance. This event has shown growing interest over the past couple years, as a way to let loose before finals, fundraise for a cause, and tap into the precious comradery among nursing students and faculty over their two years at the College of Nursing.
