UHP volunteers from the bachelors, master's and doctorate program shared their academic and career experiences related to nursing. An important topic we chose to reassure the student about is how everyone's journey to nursing is very different. Information regarding prerequisite courses, volunteering, and financial aid was touched on reiterate that every student has taken a different path to becoming a successful and enthusastic Registered Nurse here in Chicago. During the second half of our visit we delved into hands on activities including donning Personal Protective Equitment and taking a manual blood pressure. Both of these activiteis fostered discussions on when, why, and where nurses need to have these tasks in their back pocket.
The UHP College Of Nursing greatly enjoyed their time with the students. We look forward to continuing to work with these students and hope to have them as colleagues one day!
