On August 31st, the Urban Health Program College of Nursing Student Association sent volunteers to Munster, Indiana for the WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. Back 2 School Launch Party. WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. is a community based nonprofit organization that serves the Greater Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area. WHOLE INTERNATIONAL INC. is dedicated to supporting, mentoring and coaching individuals to enable them to function independently in society. The organization is devoted to teach and educate community members how to build self-confidence by providing workshops, seminars, and one-on-one coaching sessions that empower individuals to be successful and most importantly build community. The volunteers took manual blood pressures of guests and explained the result. If an individual had a high blood pressure reading, they were advised to talk to their health care provider about hypertension treatment. The volunteers also discussed positive lifestyle practices and hypertension prevention methods.
