On Friday, November 15, 2019, the UIC CHANCE Program visited the College of Nursing. The mission of the UIC CHANCE Program is to recruit and retain academically qualified underrepresented candidates from Chicago and suburban communities in need of enrichment and learning skills, for admission to UIC and facilitate access to the necessary academic activities and professional services that will enable them to press and graduate as well-prepared professionals for the 21st century.
The UIC CHANCE Program offers students an opportunity to develop intellectual connections that embrace student learning. The Success Series Model of the CHANCE Program includes comprehensive programming tailored to support the needs of our student body as well as provide UIC students with real-world preparation and professional development. 12 pre-nursing students currently enrolled in the UIC CHANCE Program participated in the College of Nursing visit to learn about the nursing profession and the admissions process. A tour of the Schwartz Lab was given by Mr. Juan Meija.
