This past semester, a team from the Advocate-Aurora Workforce Initiative Program facilitated a Student Learning Group at the College of Nursing. The goal of the program was to develop and improve skill-based training programs that seek to address some of the health care industry’s current workforce needs. As part of the Student Learning Group, undergraduate and graduate pre-licensure students were invited to participate in various workshops which were led by an Advocate staff or leader. Students were provided with extra insight into key skills to support your career success after graduation. The workshops covered material involving emotional intelligence, empathy, and conflict resolution. The program concluded with a tour of the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and a question and answer session with Advocate-Aurora nurse hiring managers and HR representatives.
