The College of Nursing Urban Health Program salutes and celebrates two of its outstanding students: Jessica Lechuga and Jessica Leonard.
Congratulations to Jessica Lechuga on completing her BSN program and for being awarded the 2020 UHP Student Leadership Award. Jessica has been greatly involved with the College of Nursing Urban Health Program since she began her undergraduate in the fall of 2018. While managing a heavy course load, Jessica has managed to maintain a 3.72-grade point average. In addition to excelling in her studies, Jessica has been an active member of several organizations including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and the National Association for Hispanic Nurses.
Her professional goals include completing a one-year nurse residency program and advancing her education. She plans to earn her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, and will explore Gerontological, Pain Management, and Medical-Surgical Nursing. Ultimately, Jessica intends to work her way into a leadership role where she can make a greater impact in underserved communities.
