Scott Althaus, director of The Cline Center for Advanced Social Research and professor of political science and communication, recently produce a research paper that reexamines the historical significance of newsreels. With the help of students from a junior honors seminar political science course, they were able to show that newsreels played an important role in the progression of the news industry. Their study is being published in the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, a leading specialty journal in the field of mass communication research.
