Biography: My name is Sravya Kosuri and I'm majoring in Information Science graduating spring of 2023. I intend to focus my studies and career on Data Science and UX Design fields.
Why Information Sciences: I am interested in majoring in Information Sciences as I have always been curious about how technology works and makes our lives convenient. Mobile and web based applications like maps, weather, Internet, and email have become an integral and useful part of our everyday lives. Hence, I took a few introductory programming languages like HTML, CSS, and Python in high school and Java at UIUC and intend to build on this foundation moving forward with a major in IS. Information Sciences is an interdisciplinary field that connects data, technology, and people. It is a modern field of study that teaches recent systems and technology with a good job outlook. I have a great interest in IS as it has a broad scope and also has a specific and focused study towards specific pathways like UX Design and Data Science. The sharing of information in a responsible and ethical manner in the society is considered. I am looking forward to major in BS/IS as it will help me design user friendly websites and business applications and learn how data is used by corporations to enhance their business.
