Biography: Hello there! I'm Jared, a Brain and Cognitive Science and Information Science student in my senior here at UIUC. I'm also minoring in Computer Science, Spanish, and History. I absolutely love studying and learning new things across every subject (from mathematics to Philosophy!), playing video games, reading and writing, exercising, and spending time with family, but above all else, I enjoy spending time to think, meditate, and reflect on life!
Why Information Sciences: From a young age, watching movies like the Matrix-inspired me to delve deeper into the intersection of humans and machines. Information Sciences take a deep dive into how the frontier that is that intersection can be expanded. The Data Science and HCI Pathways of the major are the ones on which I have chosen to focus, as they perfectly complement my major in Cognitive Science, which focuses on similar disciplines. This opportunity offers a way to become thoroughly equipped with the tools needed to contribute to the future of technology, one wherein we are called to be more than simple programmers but rather wielders of the powers that exist in both Engineering and the Arts and Sciences.
Campus Involvement and Experiences: Law, Data Science, UX/UI internships, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, National Society of Leadership and Success.
