Biography: Hello! My name is Miranda Gallardo and I am looking forward to the next few years as an Information Sciences major. I can't wait to see what type of opportunities unfold!
Why Information Sciences: Majoring in Information Science would provide me with a balance of technical and life skills to succeed in a workplace. It allows me take classes where I can work hands on with technology, but it also offers classes that could be considered social science. Going through elementary, middle, and high school, I always took more interest in STEM related classes, but I also loved helping people directly as well. Because of my interest in STEM, I entered the university as a freshman in the pre-engineering program.
Before joining the program, I believed it was what I wanted but I felt like I was missing something. In the engineering program, I would have had to take classes like chemistry and physics every year which I did not take an interest in because I was mostly amazed by the technology aspect. I want to major in information science because it allows me to focus on technology and human interaction without taking other classes that I have no interest in. The skills from an Information Science degree allow me to have a career in a wide variety of fields.
