Biography: Hello, my name is Parth Patel. I am a junior studying Information Sciences with a minor in Business. A little bit about me: I was on a traditional dance team freshman year and involved in IBC. I really like playing basketball in my free time and have found a new interest in reading as well.
Why Information Sciences: The industry of Information Sciences is transforming today’s world. With the immense changes in technology, the use of data in today’s world provides a lot of value and promising solutions to crucial problems. For example, artificial intelligence is reducing human error in business organizations, providing operational efficiency, and reducing organizational costs. However, though there are an incredible amount of benefits, there is a lot of question of whether information derived from data analytics is being used ethically. I want to major in Information Sciences because I want to be able to analyze data in a systematic manner to add value to both organizations and society. I want to ensure that I am not providing misleading and unethical data, which seems to overcrowd social and news platforms today.
