Biography: Arya is a freshman majoring in Information Sciences on the Data Science/Data Analytics pathway and is interested in pursuing a minor in Computer Science. She's from the Bay Area, California, and is an interdisciplinary thinker with an inquisitive mind. Arya is always looking for ways to learn and unearth the world around her to see how she can discover innovative solutions to foster societal advancements through technology.
Why Information Sciences: The Information Sciences major would provide me with the interdisciplinary skills needed to collect, analyze, and interpret large sets of data through a critical yet creative lens to help make current and future systems and structures safer and more easily accessible to help solve real-world social issues through the prediction of data. I would love to hone in on how I can utilize data and technology to serve the needs of marginalized communities, and I believe that the Information Sciences major will truly mold me into a data scientist who can analyze and transform data through a strong social and global perspective.
