Biography: I like to go outside of my comfort zone. I want to be able to have a positive social impact through information sciences.
Why Information Sciences: I am interested in the process of applying big data to the real world. My involvement with MyTyde, a UIUC event app that is looking to increase its engagement on campus, has reinforced my interest in Information Sciences. I am involved in UX research and design for MyTyde. I completed customer discovery interviews with executives in UIUC RSOs and helped figure out potential information to implement in the startup's app through these interviews. I have realized that I am passionate about this process of finding and analyzing data and applying it to both the app and real world applications. I am interested in getting involved in work that will benefit or have a positive impact on society and I see the Information Sciences major as a great way to combine both of my passions into a major that really interests me. Information sciences can help me with skills in building solutions and products that can deal with social problems.
