This is excellent insight into the diversity of community college programming and the extent to which internationalization is taking place on campus. The course development partnership with Parkland is valuable - leveraging each others' regional expertise to build stronger programs for the local community. This is also a goal of CGS' International Studies Research Lab (ISRL) for community colleges - building cross-institutional partnerships to help achieve internationalization goals. How did your participation in ISRL help fuel this partnership with Parkland and help you build stronger networks of knowledge?
The ISRL was instrumental in providing the opportunity for connection through the synchronous meeting and workshop sessions. Not only do those sessions provide feedback on the project of record, but they also allow for unrelated conversations and connection- exactly of the kind that happened here. After hearing about the Parkland project, we had a few moments to connect about this other crazy idea and exchange contact info. We then communicated with our respective peers at our home institution and created a plan for how our various expertise could be shared. The ISRL thus created a known project but also an unplanned one as well!
