(Update from Jay Guelfi with the Urbana School of Chemical Science)
Latest news on the renewal of the University's ChemDraw license:
Existing installations: Existing ChemDraw installations should show an expiration date of May 8, 2025 (click on Help -> About ChemDraw). If you see something else, be sure that you have the latest ChemDraw software installed with a current authorization code (you should be able to get this from the “My Orders” section of the WebStore).
New installations: For those looking to install ChemDraw now, you can download it from the WebStore . ***Be aware that it shows a past expiration date of 11/1/2024. That’s OK. Download the offer with the expired date, and you will get the current code to make ChemDraw function.
What’s next? When will this be settled?
Revvity is changing their licensing model from a computer-based model using an authorization code to a user-based model using a cloud-based license manager that will require authentication. Rather than having everyone purchase an updated offer under the old licensing model and then have to do something different in a month or so, the WebStore has asked Revvity to extend existing licenses until the new licensing model is ready to be rolled out. The specifics of the new licensing model are still being worked out. We will send out more information as we have it.
