Did you know that Banner generates an error message when a journal voucher or feeder is rejected from one of Banner’s various approval queues? If not, see below for a quick overview:
- When a journal voucher or feeder is rejected from a Banner approval queue, Banner will generate an error message to notify the user who submitted the entry. These messages can be viewed on Banner page GUAMESG.
- If you’d like to see history of past Banner messages sent to a particular user, simply go to Banner page GUAMESG and filter on the submitter’s name, using their net ID. You can then see the history of Banner messages sent to this particular user, along with the date the message was sent, the net ID of the individual who sent the message, and the system that the message was sent within (such as F for the Finance module).
- Another way to get to this message page is to expand the Banner dashboard on the left-hand side of your Banner home screen by clicking on the Toggle button (i.e., the three horizontal lines) at the top of the dashboard. Once the dashboard has been expanded, you will see your name next to the person icon near the bottom of the dashboard. If you click on your name or the person icon, you will see a Check Banner Messages option appear. If you click on that option, it will take you directly to Banner page GUAMESG as well.
