Does your unit have any Banner gift funds restricted for University of Illinois System research activities? If so, did you know that it is typically unallowable to use these types of gift funds for financial aid payments (such as scholarships, fellowships, or student prizes/awards)?
Since gift funds restricted for research should only be used for expenses directly supporting University of Illinois System research activities, and since students are not expected to render any type of services in exchange for scholarships, fellowships, or awards, these types of financial aid payments should not post to gift funds restricted for research. If this occurred, it would typically be considered a violation of the applicable donor intent restrictions.
