Under the Business and Financial Policies and Procedures Manual Section 8.1.1 Business Meals, Refreshments, and Alcohol, the allowable maximum expenditure for business meals, receptions, and refreshments, which includes an annual employee holiday gathering, is $75 per person per meal.
The expense report that reflects the costs of a holiday gathering must have the required unit approvals and a bona fide business purpose must be specified. Recognizing the achievements of the unit over the past year may be an appropriate bona fide business purpose for a unit seeking to expense the costs of a holiday gathering.
