Dear Friends, Students, and Colleagues,
I am deeply honored to join the College of Education and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign this fall. In my short time since arriving on campus, I have had the privilege of meeting many groups and individuals that have made the College of Education the highly-regarded institution of outstanding scholarship and service that it is. My primary goal as dean is to support our education community in the pursuit of this excellence.
I am grateful to my predecessor, Dr. James D. Anderson, for his leadership and the indelible mark he has made on this College, university, and the field of education. We look forward to celebrating Dr. Anderson's meaningful career at the end of October during two events that will give tribute to his great impact on individuals and higher education.
Several of the College's recent events and achievements are featured in the October 2022 newsletter. I look forward to working with the innovative and collaborative University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign community to ensure we continue to grow and thrive as a leading College of Education that fosters excellence, equity, and engagement in our community, our country, and our world. I believe it is essential to work with faculty, staff, students, and our alumni to develop and nurture a common vision for the College, grounded in these three principles, and anticipate sharing more with you as our vision progresses. Thank you for the warm Illinois welcome.
Yours in Orange and Blue,
Chrystalla Mouza
Dean, College of Education
