Last Thursday, Jana Sebestik (Interim Director at MSTE) and Lara Herbert (Assistant Director of Engineering Public Engagement) presented at the 2023 National Science Teacher Association Conference in Kansas City! Their workshop, titled Smart Circuits: The Power of Logic Gates and Relays, showcased a number of classroom activities that allow students to conceptually explore topics in electricity.
Participants explored the components and characteristics of simple circuits, logic gates, and relays. They also engage in an energy delivery themed, escape room style activity developed by educators at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with support from the US Department of Energy. Participants also shared ideas for classroom implementation.
