Digital Accessibility
The U of I System Digital Accessibility Working Group is working on two major projects to improve digital accessibility awareness and our web experience.
Awareness Training
Later this spring, they will be launching a system-wide Accessibility 101 training. It will be available to all faculty, staff, and students. The training will cover many introductory topics and is aimed at helping people grow their understanding of the need for a completely accessible digital world.
Improved Web Experience
A new system-wide web scanning platform will be launched later this spring to scan, monitor, and report on the accessibility status of all university websites. The platform will identify accessibility issues and provide recommendations to address them.
Business Continuity & Resiliency
In FY23, the U of I System Business Continuity Working Group collaborated to review and make recommendations on enhancing our continuity planning and disaster recovery capabilities. The recommendations were approved, and starting in late October 2023, a new continuity and disaster recovery platform will be brought online.
Over time, this platform will replace our existing tools and help modernize our continuity and resiliency program. We expect the platform to be fully operational and available for general use in early summer. More information to follow in future communications, including details on the timeline and how you can participate in helping ensure the solution is a success.
