Illinois NLRS Program and Project Narratives

This site features NGO partner program and project narratives, searchable by title, date, and categories. These narratives have been reported in the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy (NLRS) annual reports and updates. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of all nutrient loss-related initiatives across Illinois.

The NLRS is a statewide, collaborative effort aimed at reducing the levels of nitrogen and phosphorus entering Illinois waterways. This page specifically highlights NGO-led efforts that have contributed to the strategy since 2023.

    The Illinois Fertilizer & Chemical Association has continued hosting annual 4R Field Days, promoting continued research on practices outlined in the Illinois NLRS and best management practices. Lowell Gentry, John Pike, KJ Johnson, Dan Schaefer and Jason Solberg of IFCA have assisted with the coordination and implementation of the field days and have presented on various topics during the field days. The 4R field days were hosted on Sept. 7, 2023, and Sept. 5, 2024. Partnerships for these field days include the 4R Field Day Alliance, Illinois Soybean Association, Illinois Corn Growers Association, and the Illinois Nutrient Research and Education Council.
