- Log in to my.physics.illinois.edu using your net id and the same password you use for campus email.
- Once you are logged in, look for “Biographical Data Forms” in the Staff Toolbox. Click on that link. Also can be found under the HR tab at the top.
- If you have access to more than one bioform, your name should automatically appear in the drop-down “Choose a dataform to modify” field. Otherwise, you will just see an orange box that reads “Edit Biographical Data Form.” Click on that button.
- The next screen shows 9 sections of the Dataform that are editable.
- Here are the menu sections that appear on the website (when adding data, you must click the save button at the top of the screen to keep any data you enter, if you go to the next screen without saving, the data is lost; only data with the globe icon in the right-hand “action” column toggled on--it turns green-- will appear on the website. Any of these sections that are left blank will simply not appear on your page.):
(8.) Honors—this information appears under the title “Honors and Awards” on your bio-page.
(9.) Web page links—this appears under your name and title. This is often used to link to a separate research or laboratory website that your group has set up.
(9.B.1.A-E) Publications—these appear under the title “Selected Publications” at the end of your bio-page. The data are generally entered oldest first, so that as you continue to add new items in the future, they will appear in the correct order (the website displays these last item first, so most recent first—I don’t believe the sort ascending/descending buttons actually work). If you click the icon of two crossed pencils, you can edit in rich text mode with a toolbar, so that you don’t need the html code for bold or subscript, etc. Note that items only appear on your bio-page if you click the globe icon (toggles on and off); as time goes on and you add newer items, you can opt to toggle off older items. If you want to put in a hyperlink to a journal article or online publication, include that in the field labeled URL, and the entire entry will become a link on the webpage.
(9.B.3) Areas of Research—this description appears under the title “Research Interests” on your bio-page.
(9.F) Biography, Statements and Updates—this is where you can put in the bulk of your bio-page. Field 1 Biography is what appears at the top under the title “About.” Field 4 Research Statement is what appears under the title “Description of Current Research” on your bio-page.
