VITA at Gies -- Take Charge of Your Taxes
Get up-to-date news on the VITA income tax program through Gies Business, including tips for your taxes and the schedule for the Gies VITA site at Salt & Light Urbana. The VITA site opens February 1st and closed in April. We are currently at capacity and not able to start any new tax returns.   • Update for the Gies VITA Tax Service

    The Gies VITA tax assistance program at Salt & Light is at capacity. We cannot begin any new tax return preparations.

    We are still open to review prepared tax returns with taxpayers. Please remember to come back to Salt & Light to review and sign for your completed tax return. Bring your photo identification with you! We cannot e-file your tax return without your review.

    We are open until Wednesday, April 15th on:

    • Tuesdays, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
    • Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday, 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
    • Monday, April 13th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, April 11th from 11:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.

    Please do not wait until the last minutes as the lines may be long.

  • How to Prepare for Your VITA Site Visit

    To take part in the VITA program, please bring identification and tax documents to Salt & Light (1819 Philo Road, Urbana). Without these documents, your tax return cannot be prepared.
