With the win, [12] Illinois Softball advances to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, with the Illini set to take on [4] Nebraska at Eichelberger Field on Thursday night at 7 p.m. 

Dan Hartleb is now Illinois baseball's winningest coach in program history. With Sunday's victory over Michigan, Hartleb overtook Lee Eilbracht, who finished his Illini career with 518 wins. 

The Illini scored 24 unanswered points, while the defense held the Cavaliers to 1-for-16 on third down, 1-for-4 on fourth down, and racked up five sacks on the day.

Illinois closed non-conference play with a resounding 31-0 win against Chattanooga in the first Thursday night fame at Memorial Stadium, moving the Fighting Illini to 3-1 on the season.

Illinois fought back from a double-digit second-half deficit to force overtime and take down No. 2 Texas, 85-78. Freshman guard Jayden Epps scored the Illini's final five points of the second half to send the game to overtime.

The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Tuesday, where they will take on the Missouri Tigers in the Braggin' Rights Game at GSC Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. 

Coleman Hawkins registered the first Illinois triple-double in two seasons, recording 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Fighting Illini's 73-44 win over Syracuse. Terrence Shannon Jr. led all scorers with 17 points.

The Illinois men's tennis team defeated No. 13 Georgia on Wednesday night at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago, Ill. 'The theme of the day was focus,' head coach Brad Dancer said. 'It was a great way to start off Chicago.'

Illinois volleyball broke out the brooms during the team's Big Ten match against Iowa on Saturday, topping the Hawkeyes in straight sets. The Illini moved to 7-7 on the year with the victory and own a 2-2 record against league opponents. 

For the first time this season, five scorers finished in double figures for the Orange and Blue, who never trailed in the contest and improved to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play this season. 

A slow offensive started plagued both teams on Saturday. In the second half both offenses came alive, battling until the last second. But with Kofi Cockburn back and clutch shots from a pair of freshmen, the Illini beat the Wildcats 59-56.

Four Illini reached double figures as No. 14 Illinois came out on the winning end of a back in a back-and-forth battle in front of a sold-out State Farm Center on Sunday evening, taking down Nebraska in overtime, 87-84.

Illinois picked up its first Big Ten win of the season on Saturday, taking down Wisconsin, 34-10, in Madison for the first time since 2002. The Illini scored 17 points on three takeaways to move to 1-1 in conference play and 4-1 overall.

Terrence Shannon Jr. had a game-high and career-best 30 points, while Jayden Epps had 21 in their third regular-season contest with the Illini. Dain Dainja had 15 points off the bench, his third straight game in double figures.

Illinois hits the road to take on Nebraska on Thursday night. The opening tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on FS1 from the Cornhuskers' Pinnacle Bank Arena. 

Illinois volleyball picked up its sixth-straight victory when the team swept Northwestern at Huff Hall on Wednesday night. With the win, the Fighting Illini own a 13-10 on the year with a 8-5 mark in Big Ten play.

Olivia Howell closed out the 2023 indoor track season on top of the mile podium. She crossed first with a 4:34.00 to earn her first NCAA Indoor Championship Title and claim her second-straight Indoor First Team All-American nod.

On a sentimental Senior Day at Huff Hall on Sunday, Illini Volleyball triumphed over Iowa in straight sets to record the Illini's eighth sweep this season. Their fourth-straight victory helped the team improve to 15-13 overall, 11-8 in Big Ten play.

Illinois brought the energy from start to finish in a bounce-back 69-60 win against Ohio State at State Farm Center on Tuesday night.

No. 14 Illinois trailed for only 10 seconds and completed the regular-season sweep over Michigan with a resounding 97-68 home win over the Wolverines at State Farm Center on Tuesday night. 

The Illini pitching staff held Wheaton to just five hits while the Illini offense registered 12 hits in the win. Cam McDonald kept his 16-game hitting streak alive. Branden Comia, Jacob Campbell, and Brody Harding each had multi-hit games.

Makira Cook led all scorers with 21, while Adalia McKenzie, Genesis Bryant, and Jada Peebles all finished in double figures. The Illini had an efficient day from deep, shooting 52.2% from beyond the arc.

The Fighting Illini softball team recorded their second-straight run-rule midweek victory on Wednesday evening, defeating in-state rival Illinois State 11-3 in six innings behind a six-run fourth and five-run fifth inning.

The Fighting Illini (9-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Terrence Shannon Jr., who secured a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Quincy Guerrier tacked on 28 points and eight rebounds. 

Illinois Men's Basketball extended its winning streak to four games with a 78-60 road win over Minnesota at Williams Arena on Monday night. Four different Illini finished with double figures.

Illinois is in the top 25 for the first time since 2022. The Illini have knocked off Eastern Illinois, #19 Kansas, and Central Michigan to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2011.

The Illini sit above .500 in conference action for the first time since 2017, and they extend their winning streak to five games with their final game of 2022. Illinois now sits at 12-2 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play heading into 2023.

While Frazier came had a big second half with 12 points, Kofi Cockburn and Jacob Grandison led Illinois' offensive attack against the Spartans. Grandison made six three-pointers and had 24 points. Cockburn led all scorers with 27.

Illinois closed the calendar year with a dominant 117-64 win over Chicago State on Sunday. The Illini surpassed the 100-point mark for the second time this season in their final home nonconference game of the season.

Tuesday night's victory against the Spartans - despite missing stars Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo - moves the Illini to first place in the Big Ten with seven conference wins. 

Down 3-1 at Maryland, Illinois Women's Tennis battled all the way back to secure a 4-3 victory on Sunday from the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. 

Illinois volleyball took down Indiana in straight sets at Huff Hall on Wednesday night. The Fighting Illini improved to 12-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. 

In the Easter Sunday series finale, the Fighting Illini softball team secured their second-straight series sweep and tenth-straight victory, defeating Rutgers 9-1 at Rutgers Softball Complex.

Illinois volleyball topped UIC in a four-set battle at Credit Union 1 Arena on Tuesday night, improving to 4-1 this season including a 2-0 record on the road.

Marcus Domask and Terrence Shannon Jr. put on a show in the Big Apple, combining for 66 points in No. 20 Illinois' 98-89 win over No. 11 Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night. 

The victory marked the Fighting Illini's first road win over a top-10 team since 2021, surpassing the 100-point scoring mark away from home for the first time since 2016.

Illinois used a 19-0 second-half scoring run to defeat No. 24 Rutgers, 69-60, on Saturday afternoon. The Illini outscored the Scarlet Knights, 39-26, in the second half en route to the team's fourth win over an AP Top-25 opponent this season.

As the Fighting Illini honored the contributions of Terrence Shannon Jr. and Matthew Mayer on Senior Night, the duo did what they have done all season in leading the Illini to a 91-87 double-overtime victory over Michigan.

Illini Football picked up their 10th win of the 2024 season, equaling the program single-season record and securing 10 victories for the first time since 2001. Josh McCray was named game MVP with two rushing touchdowns.

Now out to a 13-2 start under Shauna Green, the Illini are coming off their biggest win yet - a New Year's Day upset of Iowa. The last time the Illini appeared in the Top 25 was Nov. 27, 2000, when the team was ranked 24th in the AP poll. 

No. 21/23 Illinois fought off a late comeback attempt and returned to winning ways with a narrow 67-64 road victory against Northwestern on Sunday afternoon. The Illini move to 16-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Five home runs powered Fighting Illini softball past SIUE on Tuesday as Illinois topped the Cougars, 13-4, in a five-inning run-rule affair. 

With three top-10 finishers, highlighted by a medalist performance from freshman Max Herendeen, the Illini men's golf team captured the title at the Stanford Regional and punched its ticket through to the 2024 NCAA Championship.   

Illinois volleyball began its season with a victory against Northern Illinois on Saturday evening. Illinois posted 54 kills with a .280 hitting percentage during the triumph over the Huskies. Raina Terry led the way offensively with 19 kills.

No. 24 Illinois (15-3, 5-2) went on the road Sunday to beat Minnesota, 70-57, for the Illini's fourth double-digit road win of the season.  Four players finished in double figures in the 13-point victory.

Four Illini scorers reached double figures as No. 14 Illinois secured an 85-80 road win over Maryland at XFINITY Center on Saturday, marking the Illini's first away victory over the Terrapins since 2011. 

The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams completed the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb. 24), with the Illini women's program racking up 104 points to claim the title for the first time since 2013. 

A balanced scoring night saw Illinois return to the win column with an 81-61 home victory over Iowa at State Farm Center on Tuesday night. Tomislav Ivisic led the scoring with 22 points.

At the plate, the Fighting Illini were paced by Eileen Donahue, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Stevie Meade compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. 

Wang got off to a blistering start, collecting birdies on the first four holes and in five of the first seven, and she didn't slow down on the back, picking up five birdies on holes 10-15 to give her a total of nine birdies on the day.
