With the win, [12] Illinois Softball advances to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, with the Illini set to take on [4] Nebraska at Eichelberger Field on Thursday night at 7 p.m. 

Dan Hartleb is now Illinois baseball's winningest coach in program history. With Sunday's victory over Michigan, Hartleb overtook Lee Eilbracht, who finished his Illini career with 518 wins. 

The Illini scored 24 unanswered points, while the defense held the Cavaliers to 1-for-16 on third down, 1-for-4 on fourth down, and racked up five sacks on the day.

Coleman Hawkins registered the first Illinois triple-double in two seasons, recording 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Fighting Illini's 73-44 win over Syracuse. Terrence Shannon Jr. led all scorers with 17 points.

Illinois closed non-conference play with a resounding 31-0 win against Chattanooga in the first Thursday night fame at Memorial Stadium, moving the Fighting Illini to 3-1 on the season.

Terrence Shannon Jr. had a game-high and career-best 30 points, while Jayden Epps had 21 in their third regular-season contest with the Illini. Dain Dainja had 15 points off the bench, his third straight game in double figures.

Illinois fought back from a double-digit second-half deficit to force overtime and take down No. 2 Texas, 85-78. Freshman guard Jayden Epps scored the Illini's final five points of the second half to send the game to overtime.

The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Tuesday, where they will take on the Missouri Tigers in the Braggin' Rights Game at GSC Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. 

Illinois Men's Basketball extended its winning streak to four games with a 78-60 road win over Minnesota at Williams Arena on Monday night. Four different Illini finished with double figures.

Illinois closed the calendar year with a dominant 117-64 win over Chicago State on Sunday. The Illini surpassed the 100-point mark for the second time this season in their final home nonconference game of the season.

The Illinois men's tennis team defeated No. 13 Georgia on Wednesday night at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago, Ill. 'The theme of the day was focus,' head coach Brad Dancer said. 'It was a great way to start off Chicago.'

Illinois volleyball broke out the brooms during the team's Big Ten match against Iowa on Saturday, topping the Hawkeyes in straight sets. The Illini moved to 7-7 on the year with the victory and own a 2-2 record against league opponents. 

Marcus Domask and Terrence Shannon Jr. put on a show in the Big Apple, combining for 66 points in No. 20 Illinois' 98-89 win over No. 11 Florida Atlantic on Tuesday night. 

For the first time this season, five scorers finished in double figures for the Orange and Blue, who never trailed in the contest and improved to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play this season. 

Illinois hits the road to take on Nebraska on Thursday night. The opening tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on FS1 from the Cornhuskers' Pinnacle Bank Arena. 

A slow offensive started plagued both teams on Saturday. In the second half both offenses came alive, battling until the last second. But with Kofi Cockburn back and clutch shots from a pair of freshmen, the Illini beat the Wildcats 59-56.

Four Illini reached double figures as No. 14 Illinois came out on the winning end of a back in a back-and-forth battle in front of a sold-out State Farm Center on Sunday evening, taking down Nebraska in overtime, 87-84.

Illinois picked up its first Big Ten win of the season on Saturday, taking down Wisconsin, 34-10, in Madison for the first time since 2002. The Illini scored 17 points on three takeaways to move to 1-1 in conference play and 4-1 overall.

No. 24 Illinois (15-3, 5-2) went on the road Sunday to beat Minnesota, 70-57, for the Illini's fourth double-digit road win of the season.  Four players finished in double figures in the 13-point victory.

Olivia Howell closed out the 2023 indoor track season on top of the mile podium. She crossed first with a 4:34.00 to earn her first NCAA Indoor Championship Title and claim her second-straight Indoor First Team All-American nod.

Illinois volleyball picked up its sixth-straight victory when the team swept Northwestern at Huff Hall on Wednesday night. With the win, the Fighting Illini own a 13-10 on the year with a 8-5 mark in Big Ten play.

Makira Cook led all scorers with 21, while Adalia McKenzie, Genesis Bryant, and Jada Peebles all finished in double figures. The Illini had an efficient day from deep, shooting 52.2% from beyond the arc.

Illini Football picked up their 10th win of the 2024 season, equaling the program single-season record and securing 10 victories for the first time since 2001. Josh McCray was named game MVP with two rushing touchdowns.

Now out to a 13-2 start under Shauna Green, the Illini are coming off their biggest win yet - a New Year's Day upset of Iowa. The last time the Illini appeared in the Top 25 was Nov. 27, 2000, when the team was ranked 24th in the AP poll. 

No. 21/23 Illinois fought off a late comeback attempt and returned to winning ways with a narrow 67-64 road victory against Northwestern on Sunday afternoon. The Illini move to 16-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Illinois brought the energy from start to finish in a bounce-back 69-60 win against Ohio State at State Farm Center on Tuesday night.

Illinois used a 19-0 second-half scoring run to defeat No. 24 Rutgers, 69-60, on Saturday afternoon. The Illini outscored the Scarlet Knights, 39-26, in the second half en route to the team's fourth win over an AP Top-25 opponent this season.

On a sentimental Senior Day at Huff Hall on Sunday, Illini Volleyball triumphed over Iowa in straight sets to record the Illini's eighth sweep this season. Their fourth-straight victory helped the team improve to 15-13 overall, 11-8 in Big Ten play.

No. 14 Illinois trailed for only 10 seconds and completed the regular-season sweep over Michigan with a resounding 97-68 home win over the Wolverines at State Farm Center on Tuesday night. 

Illinois overcame a double-digit second-half deficit to take down Missouri State, 74-69, in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament at State Farm Center on Thursday night. 

The Illini pitching staff held Wheaton to just five hits while the Illini offense registered 12 hits in the win. Cam McDonald kept his 16-game hitting streak alive. Branden Comia, Jacob Campbell, and Brody Harding each had multi-hit games.

The Fighting Illini softball team recorded their second-straight run-rule midweek victory on Wednesday evening, defeating in-state rival Illinois State 11-3 in six innings behind a six-run fourth and five-run fifth inning.

 Illinois baseball (30-17, 15-6) captured a series victory with a 6-3 win over Iowa (29-20, 14-10) Sunday at Illinois Field. They'll be back in action on Thursday, as they take on Purdue in the final weekend series of the season. 

The Illini became the first team in the nation with two AP Top 25 wins and improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2011. Illinois moved to 3-0 in overtime games under head coach Bret Bielema. 

Five home runs powered Fighting Illini softball past SIUE on Tuesday as Illinois topped the Cougars, 13-4, in a five-inning run-rule affair. 

At the plate, the Fighting Illini were paced by Eileen Donahue, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Stevie Meade compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. 

Illinois is in the top 25 for the first time since 2022. The Illini have knocked off Eastern Illinois, #19 Kansas, and Central Michigan to start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2011.

With the victory, the Fighting Illini own a 11-10 on the year with a 6-5 mark in Big Ten play. The Orange and Blue tallied 55 kills and 66 digs in the match. The team added 49 assists and 10 strikes from the service line.

Illinois used multiple big scoring runs to secure an 80-52 win over Eastern Illinois to open the men's basketball team's 2023-24 regular-season campaign at State Farm Center on Monday night.  

Behind a career-high 32-point performance from Genesis Bryant, Illinois took down Morehead State, 81-61, in its season opener at State Farm Center on Tuesday night. The Fighting Illini have won seven consecutive season openers dating back to 2017.

The Fighting Illini (9-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Terrence Shannon Jr., who secured a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Quincy Guerrier tacked on 28 points and eight rebounds. 

No. 14 Illinois used four scorers in double figures and a strong defensive performance to take down Michigan, 88-73, at Crisler Center on Thursday night. 

While Frazier came had a big second half with 12 points, Kofi Cockburn and Jacob Grandison led Illinois' offensive attack against the Spartans. Grandison made six three-pointers and had 24 points. Cockburn led all scorers with 27.

Leading for the final three quarters, all six Illini players who saw the court finished in double figures as the Orange and Blue improved to 7-8 in conference play with three regular-season games left on the schedule. 

No. 25 Illinois Women's Basketball set the tone early and dominated from start to finish en route to a 75-53 road win over Rutgers in the team's final game of the regular season.

The Illini's win completed the series sweep of Purdue and put an exclamation point on the program's outright Big Ten championship, clinched by Nebraska's loss to Michigan State earlier in the day. 

The Illini used a strong defensive showing to move to  defeat Marquette, 65-53, at State Farm Center on Sunday night. After scoring only one point in the first half, Genesis Bryant poured in 15 points across the final 20 minutes.

The Fighting Illini went 22-for-23 from the free-throw line and took advantage of their dominance on the glass by scoring 13 second-chance points on 12 offensive boards. The Illini won the overall rebounding battle, 42-30. 

The Illini sit above .500 in conference action for the first time since 2017, and they extend their winning streak to five games with their final game of 2022. Illinois now sits at 12-2 overall and 2-1 in Big Ten play heading into 2023.

A strong Illinois defensive stand in the final minutes of the game kept Nebraska without a field goal for the last six minutes of action, and four Illini finished in double figures in the 16-point victory.
