Becoming an intern would allow you to become involved with Stormwater Management within local government, ranging from standard ravine assessments and data collection to data analysis. Your day will consist of working as a team outdoors in variable weather conditions under the guidance of SMC staff to collect data including slope and channel erosion, types, sizes, and locations of stormwater pipes and discharges, failing structures, etc using tablets and Collector for ArcGIS. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. Being able to build working relationships employees, wetland and soil scientists, planners, GIS, and regulatory staff is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.
