    The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking to hire a Visiting Scientific Specialist, Wetlands Geology (up to two, depending on applicant pool and programmatic need) to perform sponsored research on the hydrogeology and geochemistry of wetlands. 60 percent of this position will involve conducting field work and data collection.  Position is based in Champaign, Illinois.

    The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking undergraduate or graduate students to participate in acquiring and processing geophysical data during the summer 2021 field season.  Conduct field work, download data, perform processing, utilize GIS software to prepare maps of field locations, digitize and process archived geophysical data, and assist with other geophysical and/or geologic field projects.  Position is based in Champaign, Illinois.

  • Engineering Assistant (Hourly) - Illinois State Geological Survey

    The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking an individual to participate in and assist with research and development projects related to development of carbon nanomaterials and water treatment. Participate and assist in the synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials and sorbents; assist in performing laboratory experiments related to other engineering projects; assist in data collection and maintenance; assist in preparing reports and documents; and conduct literature searches.  Position is based in Champaign, Illinois.

    The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking to hire an Assistant Research Scientist, Economic Geology to conceive, recommend, implement, direct, and participate in geologic mapping of bedrock and interpret structural geology of 7.5-minute quadrangles in Illinois, develop and write external research programs relating to economic and industrial minerals, including critical minerals, and work with other staff to ensure the success of the state-wide geologic mapping program and critical mineral development.
