  • Facilities & Services, UIPD Help Save a Life

    Brian Barto (water station), Lucas Burton, and Bryan Helfrich (carpenters) recently exhibited calm and grace under pressure when they provided assistance to another F&S employee, Vinh Nguyen, who was experiencing a life-threatening health emergency. Their quick action allowed University of Illinois Police Department (UIPD) officers Jason Bradley and Rodney Mitchell to get to the scene within about a minute of the 911 call, and they offered more advanced aid before Nguyen was transported to the hospital.   • 28 Key Leaders Honored With the Presidential Medallion

    In a ceremony at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), University of Illinois President Tim Killeen honored leaders behind the development of the SHIELD test-and-trace system and subsequent organizations created to expand its use beyond the system’s universities. Jillian works frequently with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for object detection. She enjoys learning and talking with people of various backgrounds and knowledge.
