  • Southern and Central Illinois Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (SCI-LSAMP) Program

    The Southern & Central Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is sponsored by the National Science Foundation designed to increase retention, graduation, and success of students from Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American/Alaskan, Pacific Islander racial and ethnic groups that are historically underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This program offers holistic support and individualized mentoring to guide students through the completion of their bachelor's degree and into graduate degree programs or careers in STEM. 

    Applications are now being accepted to join the SCI-LSAMP program!

  • Health Equity Research Experience (HERE)

    The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute and Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance for Technology-Based Healthcare invite undergraduate students across campus to apply for the summer 2025 Health Equity Research Experience at Mayo Clinic.  

    Two Illinois undergrads will be selected for the 10-week summer program with top-notch scientists at Mayo Clinic. Sophomore and junior undergraduates are encouraged to apply, the deadline to apply for Illinois pre-selection is Jan. 28, 2025.  Apply HERE.

    Selected students will receive support from a faculty mentor and a $6,000 stipend to cover living expenses. They will also participate in a program orientation, poster session, and celebration alongside Illinois students selected for the Mayo Clinic Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program.
