May 26, University of Illinois System leaders shared in a massmail that state appropriations for the system would remain at current levels for the coming year under a budget approved over the Memorial Day weekend by the Illinois General Assembly. The approved budget was sent to Gov. J.B. Pritzker for his signature.

University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen announced the creation of a system-wide coordinating committee to help support all three system universities as they plan to reopen in the fall of 2020. In his message April 28, President Killeen emphasized the importance of "transitioning to a 'new normal' while retaining our world-class educational experience and protecting the health and safety of our campus communities."
