The Team Player Award for 2011 recognizes a single individual who has played a consistent, significant role in our collective efforts to give the campus a single identity and voice.
Chris Beuoys College of Veterinary Medicine may sit on the outskirts of campus, but through her leadership, VetMed was an early adopter and has been a keen observer of campus identity standards. Because of the relationship of trust shes built with the VetMed faculty, they have been engaged and educated on marketing and communication issues.
Chris is a very reliable contributor to campus communication efforts. She’ll bend over backward to connect content creators with students and faculty members whose work perfectly represents the attributes they’re trying to represent. She understands the value of these marketing opportunities, and reacts quickly when they arise. She knows that in showcasing the people and work of VetMed, both the College and the University are bolstered.
Occasionally, Chris even ventures into uncharted territory, and she’s happy to share what she’s learned. When VetMed opened a clinic in Chicago, Chris recognized a chance to market the College and the campus to a new audience. She explored internet advertising, and helped pioneer a new campus strategy of reaching out in this way – even though it meant an unprecedented use of the P-card that, frankly, scared some bookkeepers.
Chris Beuoy’s long career in Communications and Marketing for the College of Veterinary Medicine has demonstrated both her consistency and her creativity. She’s a player we’re thrilled to have on our team at Illinois.
