Employees in the Urbana-Champaign area may be aware that OSF HealthCare has purchased and taken ownership of former Presence Health hospitals in Urbana and Danville. If you seek care at these hospitals, you may need to take note of this change and its impact on your State of Illinois Group Health Insurance.
Effective February 1, 2018, the hospitals are known as:
OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center (Urbana)
OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center (Danville)
Prior to any appointments or procedures at one of these OSF locations, you are encouraged to call your medical providers and ask them if they will accept your insurance and confirm the coverage level.
OSF reports that they are still in negotiations with several insurance companies for hospital-based services, and they remain hopeful in reaching a positive resolution. However, in the meantime, some insurance plans will consider OSF out of network and if so, your claim reimbursement will be at a lower rate. This could result in significant out of pocket cost to you.
