A brief overview chart
has been prepared to help employees understand the Open Access Plan (OAP) health plan options available during FY2012 Benefit Choice. Please note that this is an overview and employees should follow the links to consult the full information available on CMS and the health plan websites.
Which managed care Health Plans are available in the county where I live?
In Champaign County, your choices are HealthLink OAP and PersonalCare OAP. In Sangamon County, your choices are Blue Advantage HMO and HMO Illinois, in addition to HealthLink OAP and PersonalCare OAP. A county map appears on page 11 of the CMS FY2012 Benefit Choice Options booklet. The Quality Care Health Plan, which is not a managed care plan, is available in all counties.
What Information will I need in order to change my Health Plan in NESSIE?
You will need to know the name of the new health plan you want to elect. If you are electing a managed care provider, i.e. an OAP or HMO, you will also need the National Provider Identifier number (NPI#) for your primary care physician. The NPI# is not required when selecting the Quality Care Health Plan. You can find your physician's NPI# on the health plan's website. See the chart and follow the health plan links using the instructions provided.
Should I wait to make my Health Plan and Primary Care Physician choices?
Please be assured that it is not necessary to wait until the last minute to choose your health plan and primary care provider. You are encouraged to take time to read the Benefit Choice materials and review the health plan websites and provider lists. However, please do not wait to make your elections in NESSIE. If you make an election early and later change your mind (for example if your preferred physician joins a different health plan), you can return to NESSIE and change your election as many times as you want before the close of Benefit Choice on June 17. Only the final election recorded in NESSIE at the close of Benefit Choice will be submitted to CMS.
