Join us for the University of Illinois System Virtual Retirement Planning Conference (VRPC) on Monday, April 28, 2025. This virtual event is designed for faculty and staff who are considering retirement within the next three to five years, and will provide essential guidance to help you plan with confidence.
Throughout the day, representatives from SURS, HR, UPB, and more will cover key topics such as understanding SURS retirement benefits, financial and benefits planning for a secure retirement, and transitioning to state health insurance as an annuitant. Each session will conclude with a brief Q&A period.
Virtual (Online) Attendance
This is a free virtual event from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. that you can attend via your computer, smartphone, or other mobile device. View the full agenda and session descriptions on the VRPC Registration Site. You only need to register once for the entire event; however, you are not required to attend all of the sessions. You may join, leave, and return to attend the sessions that are most relevant to your needs.
Optional In-Person Viewing Locations
For those without computer access, designated viewing rooms will be available on some campuses. Registration for the virtual event is not required if you plan to attend in person at one of these locations. Seating may be limited.

We will email a link to recorded sessions after the conference.
Approved Event Status
A portion of this conference is an approved event under Policy and Rules for Civil Service Staff, Rule 11.12. Overtime eligible employees may be released up to two and one-half hours from work to attend or view the live event sessions, operational needs permitting, and subject to prior supervisor approval. Employees will need to use available leave time for any time spent attending this event beyond the 2.5 hours.
