From leading the way in branding efforts for CITES, furthering efforts to partner CITES with other campus units, or in helping to identify and connect Public Affairs with key technical experts at CITES to make the Augmented Alma Mater a reality, Brian Mertz embodies the spirit of a team player on campus.
When CITES began its journey to change its public representation of the organization’s name to more clearly identify CITES’ emphasis on partnering with other campus units to address their technological needs, Brian spearheaded the conversation with Public Affairs to ensure the branding efforts met the Illinois Identity Standards.
Whether it’s his discretion when working on not-ready-for-public projects, his willingness to respond quickly to urgent communications requests, or his congenial but professional approach as a collaborative communicator, Brian continues to put the best interests of the campus first, and for that we thank him and present him with the Team Player Award.
