The College of Education’s communication team set out to re-brand in 2012 to position the college as a leader in education research, teacher preparation and community outreach. Undertaking a six-month branding project that included interviews with administrators and stakeholders, student surveys, and faculty/staff open houses, the team identified a positioning statement, brand essence, and brand attributes for the college.
Each department was interviewed to learn more about their identity, goals and audiences, and the team established descriptors for each unit and strategic initiative in the campus strategic plan, developing foundational language for all marketing materials.
The communication team’s work with stakeholders and ability to listen to the diverse voices of the campus community allowed the team to distill the heart and soul of the college, resulting in the creation of solid marketing and action plan to guide college communications
It also led to a comprehensive visual identity, created in consultation with Public Affairs, which helps infuse branding messages into news, media pitches, event materials, and the college’s social media strategy.
Congratulations to the Communications Office of the College of Education for earning the ACME Branding Leadership Award.
