Apply to a Northwestern University 8-week summer research program (Monday, June 24 - Friday, August 16) to learn new techniques and protocols in cancer research using physical sciences concepts and methodology.
- Participate in hands-on laboratory research to discover the structure and function of chromatin in malignant cells.
- Attend weekly seminars on tumor biology and cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.
- Meet undergraduates engaged in summer research at other centers in the Network at a two-day conference in Washington D.C. Participants can also elect to join a multi-session web-based tutorial on how to use large data sets to gain insights into cancer biology.

Summer program funding includes:
- A $4,000 stipend
- Free on-campus housing
- Reimbursement for travel expenses

Eligibility
- College freshmen, sophomores, or juniors pursuing a major in engineering, applied mathematics, or a physical science. Bio-science majors with a demonstrated interest in the physical sciences will also be considered.
- Complete at least one college course in biology by the program start date.
- Be members of an underserved* population in the physical and biomedical sciences.
*Includes African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, American Indians and students from families with an annual income below established low-income thresholds. International students are not eligible to apply.
