  • Summer 2026 REU InSPIRES Program at Michigan Technological University

    Now receiving applications for the Summer 2026 REU InSPIRES Program at Michigan Technological University. This fully funded summer research experience runs from May 23 through July 18, 2026, and is designed to provide students with hands-on, interdisciplinary research experiences alongside professional development and cultural enrichment activities. Students will engage in applied research areas including semiconductors, life cycle analysis, wastewater management, and copper recovery, while also participating in career workshops, industry visits, team-based activities, and cultural immersion experiences.

     The program is open to 2-year and 4-year degree-seeking students in chemistry (physical or organic), biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, and environmental engineering, as well as other related engineering disciplines. Participants receive a $5,600 stipend, with housing, meals, and travel support provided. The program will be hosted on Michigan Tech’s campus in Houghton, Michigan.

  • Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management Scholarships

    The IAFSM Young Professionals Committee (Illinois Association for Floodplain and Stormwater Management) is offering opportunities for students interested in floodplain management and related topics to attend the upcoming IAFSM Annual Conference on March 11-12th in Champaign, IL. 

    The Young Professionals Group is offering several student scholarships to cover conference fees and hotel stays. As the field of floodplain management is quite interdisciplinary, successful scholarship applicants may come from any of the following degree paths:

    Civil Engineering - Agricultural & Biological Engineering - Climatology - Ecology - Environmental Sciences - Emergency Response Management - Floodplain Management - GIS Technologies & Mapping - Hydrology - Public Policy - Political Sciences - Urban Planning - Wetland Science.

    The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate interest in stormwater, floodplain management, or related topics. More information about the scholarship can be found in the attached flyer, or through the link to the short application form provided below. The deadline for applying is February 8th, 2025. Decision notifications will be provided to all applicants by February 18th, 2025.

     Undergraduate and graduate students working with NCSA researchers or NCSA faculty affiliates are invited to register to present, along with University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students whose research is in areas of interest to NCSA. This student conference will feature oral presentations, a poster session, and the opportunity to interact with industry partners at our industry panel and dinner.   • Seeking Applicants for Illinois Undergraduate Research Ambassadors Program

    Want to inspire and support the next generation of undergraduate researchers at Illinois? The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is looking for motivated and personable undergraduate students in all majors who are excited to introduce and support peers through the Illinois research experience as an Illinois Undergraduate Research Ambassador (IURA). If you have participated in a research project, be it through coursework, assisting faculty, research staff, or graduate students, or conducting a mentored project of your own, we invite you to apply to become an Ambassador and help other students along their research journeys.  We are particularly interested in adding students in humanities, arts, business, and education to our team of Ambassadors.  

    This application is for Ambassador positions for AY 2026–27 (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027). Ambassadors are paid $15 per hour and are expected to work 30 hours per semester. Selected ambassadors are expected to be able to commit to working both semesters. During Spring 2026, new hires will undergo onboarding and orientation where they will receive all necessary training on being an Ambassador as well as be expected to work 4 hours at the Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 30, 2026. 

    Program Description   

    IURAs are a collaborative cohort of accomplished and experienced students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Ambassadors promote undergraduate research on The University of Illinois campus and help OUR develop and maintain student-focused programs that represent our University's diverse array of research disciplines.   

    Responsibilities   

    IURAs must be active participants in all assigned responsibilities, including occasional mandatory weekend and evening events, for the full academic year. 

    As an Ambassador, you will:   

    •    Mentor, support, and guide undergraduate students at various stages of their research journey through one-on-one meetings, drop-in sessions, and outreach.   

    •    Represent and promote OUR's mission to current and prospective undergraduate researchers at on-campus recruiting and outreach events, classroom presentations, and other informational sessions.  

    •    Lead or assist in workshops on undergraduate research and participate as a panelist to share your experience in undergraduate research.  

    •    Support OUR's social media campaigns.  

    •    Assist in the organization and logistics of the Undergraduate Research Symposium.  

    •    Be required to attend monthly Ambassador cohort meetings covering professional development topics such as training in peer mentoring, communication, public speaking, event planning, outreach, and program development.

    We are currently accepting applications for the Summer Research Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Our 10-week intensive undergraduate Summer Research Program provides a unique chance for students to delve into cutting-edge research within our state-of-the-art facilities while gaining a valuable preview of graduate school life at a Big Ten institution.

  • 2026 Paid Summer Internship for Undergraduates at UC San Diego

    We are pleased to share an exciting paid summer internship for STEM undergraduates at the University of California San Diego and Scripps Institution of Oceanography!

    The Marine Physical Laboratory (MPL) at the world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego is now seeking curious, motivated undergraduates with strong quantitative skills to apply for the 2026 MPL Summer Internship Program.

      This paid, eight-week research program provides students with the opportunity to work on their own individual research project under the guidance of leading scientists in the field. Interns also participate in weekly seminars, hands-on activities, and professional development events. Participants receive an hourly wage of $18.25.

    • Applicants must be available to begin in June 2026 and work 40 hours per week for the full 8 consecutive weeks.
