A welcome event for students in English and Creative Writing is Thursday, August 27, and the invitation is also extended to all students who might be interested in learning more about what the department has to offer, from prospective majors and minors to students who just want to round out their work in other areas with humanities classes or involvement in related activities. There is a newly-founded Creative Writing Club (CWC) open to all, an undergraduate research journal (Re:Search) that offers students the opportunity to gain experience with copy editing, a student council (ESC) that seeks to involve all students with an interest in literature, film, and/or writing, career-planning resources and an alumni mentoring network; all of this and more will be showcased at the information fair that is a part of our welcome event.
