Laurence Lieberman has published fifteen books of poetry and three volumes of literary essays. His most recent poetry collections include Divemaster: Swimming with the Immortals (2016), Carib’s Leap: Selected and New Poems of the Caribbean (2005) and Hour of the Mango Black Moon (2004). His poems and essays have appeared in many leading journals and reviews, including “The New Yorker,” “Atlantic Monthly,” “Paris Review,” “The New Republic,” “The Nation,” and numerous others.
Lieberman was the founder and longtime editor of the Illinois Poetry Series, for University of Illinois Press (1971-2009). He is Professor Emeritus of English at University of Illinois. Lieberman writes a regular column for “The American Poetry Review” and is a Contributing Editor for “Fifth Wednesday Journal.” Copies of Divemaster will be available for purchase at the reading.
