Illini Union Weekend Film Series featuring “Star Trek: Beyond”: Join the Illini Union Board on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Illini Union Pine Lounge to watch “Star Trek: Beyond”. In this third installment of the rebooted Star Trek film series, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) struggle with a personal crisis as he and the crew of the Enterprise are attacked by a dictator named Krall (Idris Elba). When an assault by Krall leads to the destruction of their starship, the team end up marooned on a remote planet inhabited by aliens both hostile and helpful. Rated PG-13. Mississippi Teacher Corps is seeking interested college graduates
Mississippi Teacher Corps http://mtc.olemiss.edu/ is an alternate route certification program based out of the University of Mississippi. Since the program recruits highly motivated individuals, Chancellor’s Scholars might see Teacher Corps as a potential post-graduation opportunity.
The program selects college graduates to teach in high-poverty public schools across Mississippi. MTC provides training, support, certification, and a full scholarship for a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction. The school districts where participants are placed also provide full pay and benefits. Given how small the program is, MTC is able to provide our participants with support they may not find in similar programs.
