Ideally, candidates will have research or writing experience. MEs work with and are mentored by the graduate student Senior Editor, as well as Peer Review’s Advisory Board. MEs will facilitate all stages of the publication process, including: advertising and soliciting submissions; selecting pieces to publish; requesting content and format edits from authors; work one-on-one with authors in the editing process; and copy-edit/format the annual issue for publication. You can see previous editions of Peer Review here: https://ugresearchjournals.illinois.edu/index.php/preui.
Generally, MEs work an average of 5 hours per week. While this is an unpaid internship, this position may qualify as internship hours toward undergraduate programs (James Scholars, for instance), undergraduate research certificate (through Office of Undergraduate Research, http://undergradresearch.illinois.edu/), etc. We provide documentation of support upon request.
Interested candidates should provide a cover letter outlining their interest, a current resume, a writing sample showcasing their own work (Max 1000 words) and a reference from a faculty mentor or program administrator (McNair, James Scholars, etc.). All applications should be submitted electronically (as one document if possible) by completing Peer Review's electronic application form, or by email to eui-peerreview@illinois.edu, with “Undergraduate Editor” in the subject line. Deadline is October 14th, 2016.
Any questions should be addressed to Karen Rodriguez’G, Program Director for EUI, at eui-info@illinois.edu. For more general information on EUI and its mission, please see our website: www.eui.illinois.edu.
