You are invited to hear Joanne Manaster explain how to expand your horizons with popular science books! This event is Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at 2:15 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the ACES Library.
Joanne Manaster is a senior faculty instructor for the UI School of Integrative Biology. She is active in new media with a healthy social media following. Her @sciencegoddess twitter account has been named by Mashable as "One of 25 Twitter Accounts that Will Make You Smarter". There, she shares interesting science as well as some of the latest popular science books. She is a former blogger with Scientific American and is a cohost of a regular streaming show called "Read Science!" where she interviews science authors about how they communicate science to the general public. We are in a golden age for popular science books where excellent authors, scientists, and non-scientists alike, share the world of science in ways that can enchant as well as inform. Joanne Manaster presents an overview of the large variety of popular science books available at your favorite library or bookstore. You're sure to walk away with a new appreciation for these fascinating books and may even grow your "to-be-read" pile.
