UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH INTERN POSITION ANNOUNCMENT
Position: Research Intern in Community Health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Intern will assist in conducting research projects in the field of maternal and child health and cancer epidemiology, help prepare teaching and meeting materials, as well as perform and coordinate day-to-day activities.
Work duties include:
- Managing grant submissions and grant budgets and institutional review board applications
- Assisting with grant and manuscript preparation (reviewing and editing)
- Recruiting patients to research studies
- Communicating and working with project collaborators and co-investigators
- Performing literature reviews and data entry, and summarizing peer-reviewed publications
- Preparing Power Point presentations
- Editing and preparing materials for teaching, meetings, and committees
Minimum Education and Work Experience:
- Undergraduate students, and/or those with a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health, Public Health (epidemiology or other disciplines), Biological Sciences, Psychology, Engineering, or other related fields
- A minimum GPA of 3.4 is recommended
- Students must be professional with faculty, staff, and other students, punctual, and reliable.
- Excellence in writing and editing
- Interest and/or experience working on clinical research studies, as well as with recruiting and interacting with patients and doctors
- Interest and/or knowledge in organizing, editing and submitting grant proposals, budgets, IRBs, and manuscripts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Power Point, Excel)
- Phlebotomy certification is recommended
