Position for an undergraduate researcher available in the Taher Saif lab at MechSE. The project's primary goal is to investigate how mechanical properties of the tumor microenvironment influences metastatic progression. We shall explore the crosstalk between cancer cells and other cells (e.g. cancer associated fibroblasts) in the tumor. The undergraduate student will assist with the experiments in the lab and analysis of data. Major responsibilities include cell culture, transfection, microscopy, preparing biomaterials, fabrication of PDMS-based biomechanical sensors and image analysis with ImageJ. The student will receive necessary training on these activities; however, prior experience is a bonus.
**This is a course credit opportunity.**
Students from MCB, BioE and MechSE are encouraged to apply.
The project is ongoing and students can start as soon as possible. Interested students are encouraged to email Emon Basher at emon2@illinois.edu to send a CV/resume or ask questions.
